High School Kaiserslautern

DoDEA Department of Defense Education Activity, the school authority of the US Department of Defence, is implementing a new school concept, the "21st Century Schools". Light-flooded construction, a central lounge area and classrooms separated by mobile glass walls allow learning in small groups as well as an interactive school programme across classes. The exterior façade features a large, colourful chequerboard pattern that can be seen from afar. As a highlight, in addition to several sports fields, the floor of the schoolyard is depicted in the form of a map of Germany with the US locations.
