Neubau Elementary und High School
Böblingen
As part of the School Building Programme for Europe, the Armed Forces of the United States of America built a new elementary school and a middle school in Böblingen for a total of more than 1,100 students.
A part of the existing military training site with a size of 86,000 square meters was chosen as the location. This area is accessed in direct connection via the Böblingen tank barracks.
The building itself is divided into 2 components, which were built in stages corresponding to the steeply sloping terrain. All areas are barrier-free. The school buildings include classrooms, laboratories, media and multipurpose rooms, as well as sports halls, canteens and an auditorium.
In addition, the project includes spacious landscaped and parking areas, a bus station and sports grounds, which fit into the surrounding forest area.
The above-average sustainability of the construction project is certified according to the international seal of quality LEED Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
