DoDEA Department of Defense Education Activity, the education authority of the U.S. Department of Defense, is implementing a new school concept, the 21st Century Schools. Light-flooded construction, a central lounge area and classrooms separated by mobile glass walls allow learning in small groups as well as an interactive school program for all classes. The exterior facade features a large-format, colourful chessboard pattern visible from afar. As a highlight, in addition to several sports fields, the floor of the schoolyard is shown in the form of a map of Germany with the US locations.
